I write for two reasons: first, in hope that others may have the opportunity I had; second as a means to express my sincere appreciation to Libby and Aida for their invaluable assistance. The original need was to "declutter" a small jewel of a home in Capitol Hill, lived in for 40 years which had in addition the leftovers of two other deaccessioned homes. The driver- to put the house on the market. Libby and Aida assisted with the deaccessioning of memories, furniture and furnishings with respect and sensitivity. They boxed up plenty of "rubbish" for collection. They boxed up some articles for disposition to various charities. They marked items for the movers. They are workers. They also performed an expected service and assisted in "staging" the house very tastefully for inspection. Her team took care of coordinating with the movers, handling no parking signs and ALLLLL the packing and unpacking. (They even did thoughtful things, such as reach out to neighbors.) I used Potomac Concierge to help organize a newly installed closet system. I wanted to start off with a highly organized closet – color coded, by season and style. Vicki came in fully equipped with supplies and ideas. We went through my items, sorted, hung, folded – the result was a beautiful closet that looks like something from a magazine. I did underestimate how much time it would take to get everything done (even though Vicki worked quickly and efficiently) but I was also happy that I participated along with her because it gave me an understanding on how to keep it organized which is ultimately my main goal. I literally could not have stayed in my home during the pandemic nor gotten my house ready to sell without Kelly’s outstanding assistance. Kelly had a solution to every problem and always was calm while addressing any challenge. I think of Kelly as my guardian angel. Kristin also was essential during the process of packing up my house belongings and moving into my new apartment. As an example of the special care they gave to my china cup collection, Kelly took photographs of the secretary and display case in which the cups were displayed and then she and Kristin unpacked the cups and put them back in the identical order. I cannot say enough good things about this company. I hired them to help me with my downsizing and move from Potomac Maryland to Falls Church Virginia. I would not have been able to continue to work full time and manage all of this by myself. From the moment I spoke with the owner, Libby Kinkead, I knew that I was in good hands. She linked me with Cheryl McGinnis who is a godsend. After I told her what I needed, she essentially took over. She interviewed movers for me and negotiated a very fair price with the one I chose (who I also highly recommend; Commonwealth Movers with Lionel's team). She was able to be present for Greendrop, the company I hired to come and look at a very large donation and also was there when Purple Heart came to take things away. Throughout, she was knowledgable, professional and extremely supportive. She even managed the final item after I physically moved out; having the leftover "junk" taken away by a company she recommended. Even after the move was complete, I contacted Cheryl to help me with an issue with my new home. It required foundation work that was to be done by a structural engineering company. Unfortunately, the company is terrible at communicating with their clients. Somehow, she worked her magic and was able to get through to the right people, and the job is almost done. I will absolutely use them again and would be happy to speak with anyone who is considering hiring them. Thank you again Libby and Cheryl!!!

I had quite a lot of travel during and after Thanksgiving, and needed some support with holiday decor. Kelly and Kristin truly made this Christmas the best ever. This duo is remarkable. They unloaded and opened all of the decorations (after marking them according to rooms last year) and did an amazing job helping me make everything beautiful. They wrapped presents like they should appear in the next Nutcracker. Positive, productive, professional and punctual; I love everything they created and every effort they made. For our move we engaged Potomac Concierge to help us stage our home for potential buyers and packing our possessions. Since we are moving from a four-bedroom house to a two-bedroom apartment, we had to downsize which meant de-cluttering some of our possessions. Someone said that the top three stressful events in a life are death, divorce, and moving. The Potomac Concierge team did a fabulous job at every stage of our move. They were competent, professional, efficient, and knowledgeable and, in addition reduced our stress to a very manageable level. They quickly identified those possessions that were not to be shown to potential buyers and those that we should consider discarding but showed sensitivity to our emotional attachments to some items. When it came time to packing, the team quickly and thoroughly did it, including labeling the boxes so we could find where our possessions were after we arrived at our new residence. We do not know how we could have so successfully moved without the support of Potomac Concierge and highly recommend using them for any relocation

Shannon was terrific, working under a challenging situation—conducting a long-distance Facetime inventory, working to clarify and classify a decidedly disorganized estate, overseeing careful packing of vintage concert posters and music memorabilia, as well as personal belongings going into storage after a long-time friend's move to a nursing home. She never made assumptions but checked with me as to identifications and such, and made sure everything was clearly catalogued. And she also made sure that when the materials were moved into the storage unit, they were organized for easy access. Lots of photos as well, to make things even clearer. An amazing job all around I'm truly thankful for her partnership in this difficult time.

I had a last minute cable appointment and was searching late Friday for someone to come complete a task on Monday. Time was of the essence! Potomac Concierge was able to accommodate a last minute request and had my task assigned within a couple of hours. I work in furnished housing and in this industry, you have to have reliable people on the ground as I am often far away from all my set ups. Vicki showed up on time and completed the task perfectly in every way. I had to give her very little direction and she even did a few extra things that made it complete for me. We highly recommend Potomac Concierge – a top notch business!!! Last year, we sold our home in McLean, VA and prepared to rent locally. A friend recommended Potomac Concierge and we worked with Aida Middel during a time of unknowns– where we would move, what we would do… Aida was helpful in suggesting what we needed at the rental… what could be stored, and what we should not keep. She was professional, cooperative, and considerate as we sifted through belongings making decisions. We appreciated suggestions vs. being asked what to do. She helped with packing and even with marking furniture placement when we found a rental. She also recommended a professional moving company, JK moving. A year later, we prepared to move out of state. We call on Aida and PC and we were grateful and fortunate to work with Jamee Whittan. Jamee is fantastic! We immediately connected on what needed to be done and, again, Jamee did not wait for guidance – she assessed the situation after a walk-through and formed a “game plan!” This efficiency reduced the stress enough so that I felt at ease to focus on work and other tasks. Jamee was very friendly and patient and listened as we sorted through the priorities and next steps. She remembered details of our schedule (including packing for my husband who was taking boxes to FL in advance of JK moving). Jamee was very helpful in setting the schedule for future visits. Once she had a schedule conflict and she immediately arranged for Kristen O’Brien to help. I appreciated that since I had blocked the time in advance. Kristen was equally friendly, efficient, professional, and patient!!!. I called for help during a very busy time but PC went “the extra mile!” It was a pleasure to work with Jamee and Kristen and I trusted them both. We simply didn't have enough time to coordinate all aspects of the move AND continue to work – and we were grateful that Aida, Jamee, and Kristen stepped in to help. We appreciated their patience and kind approach to an otherwise stressful situation. We still felt stress related to the move, but not with Jamee and Kristen! I assumed I would help with packing (!) but they had confidence in their approach and took initiative to get things done, leaving me to work on other tasks. They communicated well during the process to ensure we were always on the same page. They were both so very easy to get along with and they managed to get so much done each day while creating a calm environment. Truly 5-star service!

Potomac Concierge did a beautiful job this summer on the substantial renovation of my condominium in Adams Morgan. I live a three-hour drive from Washington, and I literally could not have done it without them. Actually, they did it all and I was left with the fun part of picking out styles and colors. The work on my condo was extensive – updating a bathroom (new vanity, flooring, drywall repair, etc.), bead board and new flooring in the utility area, a new garbage disposal, oriental rug cleaning, new windows with new granite sills, and 15 years' worth (!) of handyman jobs. Because Potomac Concierge is a group of intelligent self-starters, I really could (and did) leave everything to them. After one personal meeting to discuss my "wish list", communication was by email at my convenience. The stress of renovation, in my opinion, is due to difficulty in scheduling and quality control issues. All of this was borne by Potomac Concierge. I told them that when I saw the finished project, I felt like the women on HGTV who start crying at the "reveal". I do not write reviews, as a rule, but because I found Potomac Concierge on the internet, and took a leap of faith, I feel a responsibility to anyone else out there who is looking for help. As a general rule, you’ll want to reach out to a moving specialist about one or two weeks before your move.

We don’t recommend planning your move much earlier as circumstances could change, meaning you would have to reschedule with certain vendors. If you try to schedule your move later, you’ll risk rushing and adding excess pressure to what’s already an inherently stressful process.

Managing your move means coordinating and overseeing vendors as well as downsizing and organizing your current space to make unpacking and settling in as easy as possible.

Our move managers will work with you to inventory all your personal items, identify what needs to go, what needs to stay, what needs to be securely discarded, and label everything for easy and safe transportation to your new home.

Take the time to sit down and assess everything that is tied to your current residence before your move. As a starting point, you’ll want to transfer utilities like power, internet, and cable.

You should have your mail forwarded to your new address and prioritize updating your address for your bank, insurance, and employer. If you have other services like a newspaper delivery or the like, you should also update those.
