Concierge for Seniors in Washington, DC Metro Area

Prior to the COVID pandemic, I commuted to Washington, D.C. each week for work. Since March 2019, my business travel has been limited, but I continue to maintain an apartment in D.C. I've had the pleasure to work with Kelly W., as she has managed cable/WiFi installation, furniture delivery, coordinating the delivery of packages, etc. She is friendly and professional, and flawlessly manages any task, no matter how complex. Kelly W. has taken a big source of stress out of my life and comes with my highest recommendation.

Having Cheryl at Potomac Concierge Services as my post move concierge was a huge relief. She took care of everything from arranging for someone to sell items I didn't want, donation of clothing and furniture and disposing of the remaining "junk." She swept the house leaving it just as the buyers wanted for the final walk-through, and to boot she returned our Verizon equipment. I can hardly put into words how wonderful my experience has been with Potomac Concierge! Jamee and Kristin organized the heck out of my kitchen and office and were an absolute joy to work with–lots of laughter and even a little dancing, but they were also incredibly efficient and innovative, full of great ideas and ways to make our life run more smoothly. I had the Power of Attorney for a retired Foreign Service Officer who had been living in a retirement home for the last seven years. He owned a lovely one-bedroom apartment in Georgetown which had remained empty during that time. Since I worked full-time and travelled frequently, I did not have the time to clean out the apartment and prepare it for sale. I hired Potomac Concierge, and specifically, Janet, to prepare the apartment for sale by removing all the furniture, clothes, books, and anything of value and then staging it. Janet and her colleagues cleaned the apartment, arranged for auctioning the valuable pieces, replaced the carpeting with hardwood floors, repaired the windows, arranged for painting of the entire apartment, and arranged for distribution and donation of remaining items to the proper organizations. They also cleaned and removed all items in the storage room. All of this was accomplished within a month with very few calls to me. The staff, and particularly Janet, did an outstanding job. They are very professional, have access to good contractors, and removed a terrific burden from me.

Janet and Colleen were the bombs! I would not have survived the four days of orchestrating the move with the crises and emergencies that evolved. Janet and Colleen remained calm, focused and most helpful through it all! I will certainly use them again; hopefully without the crises! 🎂👏🏽👏🏽👍🏽👍🏽

I have been receiving services from Potomac Concierge now for a year. I have been completely satisfied. Janet has been working with me and has been terrific. She has helped me with my home office support and organization and with cleaning out/reorganizing several closets. She is always on time, tuned in and responsive to my needs and wishes, efficient — and we get a huge amount of things done!

Libby Kinkead and Potomac Concierge have truly created a process and built a team that simultaneously expedites, accelerates and humanizes moving from one home to another! Leading up to the move, Potomac Concierge specialist, Kim, became an essential part of my daily sorting / purging / packing process – frequently taking initiative to help me prioritize getting specific tasks completed (even running errands when needed). Move Day itself was an incredible experience of how productive and supportive a team of six people can be – with no one duplicating anyone else's work tasks. What Potomac Concierge did for me in one day, truly would have taken me 3-6 months without them! My new place already started to feel like home the first night I slept there (and Potomac Concierge even made up my bed in pre-selected fresh sheets!).

Aida and her staff were incredibly professional and helpful. Our son had left the DC area during Covid and then while he was away needed to move out of his apartment. They handled everything from packing, cleaning, moving and arranging storage. It could not have been easier. We look forward to having their help again when we need it. Thank you!!!

What a great experience! I had Kelly and Marley help me with unpacking and putting things away in my new apartment right after a move in, including setting up the kitchen and master bedroom, among other tasks. They were terrific–experts at what they do, and very kind and patient with me during a very challenging moving week. I learned some great things from them about how to make my new space work best for me. I would not hesitate to work with Potomac Concierge on other home space planning projects and I recommend them highly!

Potomac Concierge did a beautiful job this summer on the substantial renovation of my condominium in Adams Morgan. I live a three-hour drive from Washington, and I literally could not have done it without them. Actually, they did it all and I was left with the fun part of picking out styles and colors. The work on my condo was extensive – updating a bathroom (new vanity, flooring, drywall repair, etc.), bead board and new flooring in the utility area, a new garbage disposal, oriental rug cleaning, new windows with new granite sills, and 15 years' worth (!) of handyman jobs. Because Potomac Concierge is a group of intelligent self-starters, I really could (and did) leave everything to them. After one personal meeting to discuss my "wish list", communication was by email at my convenience. The stress of renovation, in my opinion, is due to difficulty in scheduling and quality control issues. All of this was borne by Potomac Concierge. I told them that when I saw the finished project, I felt like the women on HGTV who start crying at the "reveal". I do not write reviews, as a rule, but because I found Potomac Concierge on the internet, and took a leap of faith, I feel a responsibility to anyone else out there who is looking for help. You cannot go wrong if you hire them!

I am so grateful to Vicki for all of her hard work on my behalf. I’ve moved so many times. This was the best. She oversaw everything, and expedited so many steps, and made good decisions. I was absent from virtually the entire project, and completely confident in her management and trustworthiness. I hope I never have to move again, but if I do, I’ll definitely use this company.

We hired Potomac Concierge to help pack several rooms before a major home renovation. Amelia, Shannon and the representative from the moving company were all incredible. They arrived right on time and were friendly, organized, thorough and accommodating. They finished in record time and we would absolutely use them again.

Vicki and Dionne Were Magnificent! We decided to renovate our kitchen immediately AND prepare to begin a great big new job right around the same time. This meant a move from the city where the prior job was located, into the basement of our home, and then reorganizing our home after the renovation. These ladies made it all happen and did so with an excellence that was unmatched. I came home one day and my kitchen was packed, stacked, and labeled. What's more, a fully equipped mini-kitchen was set up in my basement. We lived there for months and had EVERYTHING we needed. Then, when the kitchen was done, they lined drawers, organized and unpacked. It was a thing of beauty. The movers arrived and these ladies went to work. They sorted, organized, and purged until all closets and cabinets were beautifully set. Then they reorganized furniture, set up an office, and got me ready to begin my new position with a sense of confidence and order that I could never have pulled off without Potomac Concierge. I can’t say enough good things about Potomac Concierge! I reached out to Aida about help with a big move (two houses into one) and she replied immediately. Her team took care of coordinating with the movers, handling no parking signs and ALLLLL the packing and unpacking. (They even did thoughtful things, such as reach out to neighbors.) I can’t tell you what a relief it is to be moved in and have every box out of the house within 24 hours – and to have everything thoughtfully organized and put away. Joyce and Vicki saved us. We were mired in the sad and overwhelming task of emptying our mother’s home of its zillions of treasures to prep for estate and house sale. They kept us focused, assured, and on schedule. These ladies are hard workers, punctual, knowledgeable, confident and kind. I suffered a serious knee injury in June 2016 that required two surgeries and months of physical therapy, and my doctor advised me to move to a single-level home to avoid having to climb stairs, and potentially injure my knee again. I was finally able to move in December 2016. As I sat in my new apartment that first night, unable to walk unassisted, I looked around me and saw about 30 boxes stacked up in piles upon each other, creating a wall four feet thick against one wall. I quickly came to the conclusion there was no way a disabled person like me was capable of doing ANYTHING by myself – like find which box contained bed sheets and blankets and make a bed that first night, much less open every box, one by one, and store food, clothing, electronics, and arrange furniture. Not with one hand holding on to a cane. Fortunately, I had insisted that my computer be hooked up in advance of the move. I Googled the words "home organizers" and came across Potomac Concierge – a professional home organization company. Within 48 hours, three of the loveliest women in the world – Coleen, Sandi and Anne were knocking on my door. I didn't have to tell them what to do. They looked around and KNEW what had to be done. They spent the entire day quickly opening box after box, arranging ALL of my belongings based on what room they needed to be in, creating a pile of items that I wanted to donate to a charity, throwing out things I no longer had use for, storing other belongings in a storage locker, running errands for me to nearby stores, and hauling about 50 pounds of empty cardboard boxes to the recycling room down the hall. Just to give you one example of the quality of their work – they balled up all my socks and rolled up underwear, and neatly arranged them in neat little rows in dresser drawers, folded and stacked all my shorts and shirts, and hung up all my tee-shirts and pants. And Anne even came back on two more days, finalizing things and putting the finishing touches on what turned out to be the most organized home I had ever lived in. I cannot describe how much stress was lifted from me and how relieved I felt a few days later to look around my apartment – knowing exactly where to find everything I owned. I cannot thank these ladies enough for what to me was a relatively inexpensive and swift way to get settled into a new home. My advice to anyone out there who is planning to move and wants to avoid a lot of the headache involved in relocating – call Potomac Concierge. You will never regret it !

Vicki with Potomac Concierge was amazing! She did an incredible job helping to tweak and organize our closet, and it looks so neat and beautiful. We have worked with Potomac Concierge in the past when we moved and needed help with unpacking and organizing and are always pleased with the team.

I was helping a friend move, and Potomac Concierge Services was there to unpack. Vanessa, Kelly, and Kristen were fantastic. They are organized, diligent, and incredibly hard-working. I cannot say enough good things about this company. I hired them to help me with my downsizing and move from Potomac Maryland to Falls Church Virginia. I would not have been able to continue to work full time and manage all of this by myself. From the moment I spoke with the owner, Libby Kinkead, I knew that I was in good hands. She linked me with Cheryl McGinnis who is a godsend. After I told her what I needed, she essentially took over. She interviewed movers for me and negotiated a very fair price with the one I chose (who I also highly recommend; Commonwealth Movers with Lionel's team). She was able to be present for Greendrop, the company I hired to come and look at a very large donation and also was there when Purple Heart came to take things away. Throughout, she was knowledgable, professional and extremely supportive. She even managed the final item after I physically moved out; having the leftover "junk" taken away by a company she recommended. Even after the move was complete, I contacted Cheryl to help me with an issue with my new home. It required foundation work that was to be done by a structural engineering company. Unfortunately, the company is terrible at communicating with their clients. Somehow, she worked her magic and was able to get through to the right people, and the job is almost done. I will absolutely use them again and would be happy to speak with anyone who is considering hiring them. Thank you again Libby and Cheryl!!!

I have to tell you how wonderful and incredible both Rachel and Dana were in getting our attic, basement, and tool shed in ship-shape order!  They're both amazingly efficient, hard-working, energetic, and very nice!  Both my husband and I appreciated their taking charge of the mess at our house.  It will really help make our lives so much cleaner and easier. Lauren was also great in helping set everything up and was very responsive with ideas and help. I can highly recommend Potomac Concierge!
